Forlì Sangiovese IGT

Vintage

Harvest 2019.
After an insidious, humid and rainy spring, vintage got interesting, resulting in a slightly early harvest and healthy grapes with fragrance and good acidity.

Grape variety

Sangiovese 95%, Merlot 5%. Part of this vineyard was planted over 25 years ago and part more recently, at a density between 3.000 and 6.000 plants per hectare (1,200 and 2,400 plants per acre). The vines are trained in a Spurred Cordon System and Guyot.
Grape production: 8000 Kg/Ha.

Soil

Calcareous-clayey mixture. Exposure south-west. Altitude 250 m.

Harvest

Hand-harvested in small crates.

Winemaking process

Soft press and destemming. Fermented without skin-contact maceration and matured exclusively in stainless steel tanks. Filtration and brief bottle ageing before release. Nomacorc Select Green 500 Closures.

Tasting notes

Bright ruby red colour.

Flowery aromas of violet, morello cherries and red pulp fruit with hints of aromatic herbs and slight spicy notes. High-acid mineral finish.

Serving temperature 16°C.
