Grape variety
100% Merlot from a 3 hectares (7,5-acre) vineyard planted in 1995 at a density of 7.000 vines per hectares (2,800 vines per acre), trained in “Alberello”, “Bush” system. Grape production: 4000 kg/Ha.
Soil
Calcareous-clayey mixture. Exposure south-west. Altitude 350 m.
Harvest
Hand-harvested in small crates, generally during the last week of September, choosing only the healthiest and most ripe clusters. This wine is produced only in the most optimal vintages.
Winemaking process
Soft press and destemming. Fermented in stainless steel tanks than transferred into French barriques of new cooperage, where it matures for 15 months. Following a very light filtration the wine rests in the bottle for over 3 years, before release.
Tasting notes
Clear garnet red colour.
Ample and complex wine. Ethereal notes and hints of ripe red fruit, then leather, pepper and cloves. Fresh and full-flavoured palate, with integrated and whole tannins. Long and bold finish.
Serving temperature 16°C.
